Breaking News: Jack Thompson Disbarred

Big news today from Kotaku as we hear that Jack Thompson, video gaming's worst enemy, will lose his right to practice law in the sunny state of Florida in 30 days.

As Kotaku puts it, "Judgment has been entered in the case that started last year and came to a head when Judge Dava Tunis recommended permanent disbarment for the bombastic, showboating law man. The court has approved the report and has ordered that JT is officially disbarred as of 30 days from today."

To quote the court, "The Court approves the corrected referee's report and John Bruce Thompson is permanently disbarred, effective thirty days from the date of this order so that respondent can close out his practice and protect the interests of existing clients. If respondent notifies the Court in writing that he is no longer practicing and does not need the thirty days to protect existing clients, this Court will enter an order making the permanent disbarment effective immediately. Respondent shall accept no new business from the date this order is filed."

Mirror's Edge Looks Like It Could Be Very Frustrating

Kotaku has some new in-game footage (below) from this year's parkour-inspired first person shooter runner game Mirror's Edge. Finally something different from the same scene/level we've seen over and over in the past 6 months.

This time the gameplay is centered on running around in a Half-Life-esque indoor area with lots of ladders and platforms and snipers! All I could think of while watching the new footage is how much the gameplay is like Portal... Portal without the portal gun. Basically you enter an area at point A and you've got to figure out how to get to point B before GLaDOS does something nasty to you while acting all innocent.

All similarities aside, I'm still looking forward to this game as it appears to offer something new in a time when all the big games are sequels to games we played on the previous generation platforms.

Fallout 3 Banned In Australia

Damn, now the world really knows we're a bunch of stupid hicks here in the land of Aus. Kotaku tells me today that Fallout 3 has been refused classification by the Australian Office of Film and Literature Classification which means, basically, we can't get it (legally).

I guess if the publisher sees fit they'll produce a cut down edition like Rockstar have done with past GTA games but seriously, this isn't the 1980s any more.

You know, I think now that it's banned, I might want to actually play it.
