Cute LittleBigPlanet Billboards, Collect 'Em All

Ever since I was a young'n I've loved miniature stuff so when I saw these tiny LittleBigPlanet "billboards" on Kotaku I just wanted one. Take a look at the details on the little billboards there. Tiny ladders for the sackboys and sackgirls to climb up, miniscule (but fake) lights poking out at the front. So cool!

They're all part of a marketing campaign for the soon-to-be released Playstation3 puzzle building/solving game with 100 1,000 of the mini billboards being planted (literally) around major US cities.

To quote Kotaku, "They were first noted in an eBay listing. Some lucky guy wandered outside of his work one day to find one of these tiny signs planted in the nearby dirt. After doing a bit of research he discovered it was destined to be pitched and instead got his hands on it. It was labeled 99 of 100."

After a brief eBay search I found it but unfortunately it's currently sitting on $112 USD with 2.5 days to go and the description says 99 of 1000 (not 100). Ahwell, they're still cool and makes for an interesting marketing campaign. Gets those chubby, pasty gamer kids outside into the sunshine and makes them use their hidden package hunting skills for something outside of a GTA game.

Check out some of the other designs available over at Kotaku.

New Heavy Rain Screenies, More Blurry Post Processing

Some new screen grabs from the upcoming PS3 "game" Heavy Rain were released into the wild today. Very little is known about the title with only this freaky video and the new screenshots given as clues.

The new short-haired biker chick and some random fat guy star in the new shots with plenty of heavy post processing and some cool skin texturing. Motion blur makes a guest appearance in the final screenshot of the bike riding over a bridge.

See the rest of the new screenies over at Spilzonen.

Microsoft Kicks Sony Square In the Enix

E3 2008 has kicked off with a big bang with most of the noise coming from Redmond's corner. The news so far is that the Xbox 360's dashboard redesign has been confirmed complete with the Mii-like avatars and US users will be getting more HD content via Xbox Live Marketplace but the biggest news came from Square Enix's head honcho Yoichi Wada.

Yoichi-san stood up proudly and announced that the next Final Fantasy game in the series (XIII) will be released simultaneously on the PS3 and the Xbox 360. Yes, on the Xbox 360. This is a series that has been Playstation-exclusive for years on end with only a few bits and pieces thrown out to the Xbox owners now we're getting simultaneous releases... nice one.

Zero Punctuation Does Haze

In case you were wondering if Haze was any good, don't. I can barely recall the yawn-fest of a trailer and apparently the game itself is even worse. Anyway, go watch Zero Punctuation's video review... oh, and I have no bloody idea what's up with the budget trailer at the end of it.

Xbox 360 "Miis"

Kotaku is reporting on a rumour that soon you'll be replacing your gamer card image with a Mii-like "avatar" for Xbox 360 Live accounts. You could assume this is a response to the Wii's Miis but don't forget that the PS3's "Home"
also features 3D avatars. I guess Microsoft just felt left out.
