Quake In Your Browser Not Your Boots

It looks like some whacky folks have gone and ported ye olde Quake over to Microsoft's Silverlight. You can sit and watch the demo run but as soon as you try to load up a new game it just hangs. No audio yet either. Still, pretty cool.

Check it out on the Innoveware website: http://www.innoveware.com/ql/640/QuakeLight.html, or watch the video below.

Note, this isn't video playback it's the actual game engine running in Silverlight. You can read more about it here.

Quake On Wii

Those whacky WiiBrew guys have made it super easy now to hack your own Wii using the Twilight Hack. They've created a video showing you how to do it from scratch. Said video also shows Quake running on a Wii... aaahhh... the good ol' days. Thanks Engadget.

Intel Does Real-Time Ray Tracing of ET: Quake Wars

TG Daily reports that Intel is showing off real-time ray tracing on a 16-core system (4 x quad core processors) using ET: Quake Wars running at 720p outputting between 14 and 29 frames per second. That may not sound too impressive but this thing is doing real-time reflections and refraction,
among other things, unlike current games which fake their way around these things. It's just a shame that the images are photos of a monitor.
