Windows Media Center Still Sucks

News on the street says leaked images and news from the supposed update to Vista Media Center show that the previous support for DirecTV is no longer present nor the h.264 decoding which DirecTV needs.

Some people are guessing that it was only removed from Release Candidate 0 as there were problems with the previous release that need fixing and it will make a comeback later in the testing cycle. Others are saying that it won't be included until Windows 7 is out.

But enough about what you can't do, check out what is new in this release... You can edit the channel number! Damn! I've been busting for that feature for ages. Screw useful things like downloading cover artwork or being able to change the aspect ratio of a video on the fly or letting the user decide how they navigate their media either through the file system or the Media Library.

Once again, Windows Media Center disappoints, especially when you compare it to a proper bit of media software like Media Portal which does everything and then some... oh, and it's free.
